About

RedactOffline is built and published by one person, Timur Mustafin. There is no company behind it, no investor, and no team — which matters mainly because it means there is a named individual answerable for every claim on this site.

Why a named person is the point

A privacy tool asks you to believe something you can't easily check: that the thing you handed your photos to didn't keep them. Most apps answer that with a policy page and a support address that goes nowhere. The honest version is a name, a working email, and claims specific enough to be caught out if they were false — which is why this site says Luhn and mod-97 and iOS 26 rather than “bank-grade” and “AI-powered”.

The claims worth holding to account are on the privacy policy and, in checkable form, on the home page: airplane mode changes nothing about how the app behaves, the App Store privacy label declares no collection, and StoreKit is the only network-capable path in the binary.

Why the app exists

Screenshots leak more than people expect, and the tools already on the phone don't help much. Markup will draw a black box, but it finds nothing for you, so whatever you failed to notice stays in the picture — and an image edited in Photos keeps a recoverable original. Meanwhile the habit of pasting screenshots into chat products has made the problem routine rather than occasional.

So: something that reads the image, tells you what it found and what type it is, and destroys those pixels on export. On the device, because a redaction tool that uploads your unredacted photo to do its work has an obvious problem.

What it deliberately isn't

It doesn't do faces, PDFs, video, Android, iPad, or desktop. Those aren't roadmap items being coy — they're out of scope, and the alternatives page names better tools for each of them rather than pretending otherwise.
